A spot Bitcoin ETF is an investment fund that holds actual Bitcoin and trades like a stock on traditional exchanges. When you buy shares of a spot Bitcoin ETF, you own a portion of real Bitcoin held by the fund. This allows investors to gain Bitcoin exposure through a regular brokerage account without directly owning or managing Bitcoin themselves.
You want Bitcoin exposure but prefer not to use cryptocurrency exchanges. Instead of buying Bitcoin directly, you purchase shares of a spot Bitcoin ETF through your regular investment brokerage. If Bitcoin's price goes up, your ETF shares go up in value proportionally, and the fund holds the actual Bitcoin in secure storage.
