A quarterly report that publicly traded companies must file with the Securities and Exchange Commission showing financial information for three months. It is similar to a 10-K but covers only a quarter instead of a full year and is typically less detailed. Companies file three 10-Qs and one 10-K each year.
A bank files a 10-Q after the first three months of the year showing how much profit it made, how many loans it issued, and what its assets and liabilities were at the end of that quarter.
